Keep Durant Clean & Green Cleanup Day - May 19

Keep Durant Clean & Green Trash-off rescheduled to May 19

Calling all businesses, clubs, organizations and individuals - we need your help to Keep Durant Clean & Green!

The Durant Area Chamber of Commerce announces the city-wide Keep Durant Clean & Green event in conjunction with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, OG&E Energy Corp. and Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup scheduled for April 21 has been rescheduled to May 19 due to weather concerns. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Market Square, located at 1st and Evergreen in Durant on May 19, 2018.

Businesses, organizations, clubs and individuals are invited to help clean up Durant on May 19 as a part of the Keep Durant Clean & Green initiative. Check-in is from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and at this time, participants can pick up supplies and select a location to clean up. Trash pick-up will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the event will reconvene at 11:30 a.m. at Market Square where First United Bank will provide hot dogs to participants and prizes will be awarded in various categories including the largest group participation and more. Choctaw Nation Recycling will be on-site at Market Square throughout the day to take recyclables.

The event will also include an opportunity to “Adopt An Area” to keep clean. The Adopt an Area program requires a year-long commitment from a business, club, organization or just a group of people wanting to get together to clean up a certain area of the city. Different locations throughout Durant are available for adoption – contact the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce or visit for an official Adopt An Area commitment form.

Keep Durant Clean & Green is a partnership between the City of Durant, Choctaw Nation Recycling, Durant Area Chamber of Commerce, Durant Main Street, Imagine Durant, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Mix 96.1, Mid Continental Broadcasting, Wichita Mountains Preservation Network, Unique Solutions and more.
