Durant Airport Runway Reopening Ceremony

 

DURANT, OKLA – A Runway Reopening Ceremony for Durant Regional - Eaker Field Airport, located at 10 Waldron Drive in Durant will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020. 

The runway extension and rehabilitation project at Durant Regional - Eaker Field Airport was a couple of years in the making as City leadership, OAC and FAA worked together on what's known to airports as their 'Capital Improvement Plan'.  This five year plan allows for airports to project their needs and apply for CIP grants from the FAA and State. CIP funds are to help airports with the assistance they need to keep necessary items safe and operational for the National Plan of Integrated Airports or NPIAS. Needs such as well paved runways and taxiways, navaids, lighting, land acquisition, fencing and the like. This project was over 6 million in costs with funds from the FAA, OAC and private donations from Choctaw.
